Moving Office? This is the Commercial Removal Checklist You Should Use

Commercial Removal Checklist

While moving house is stressful, moving office is that little bit more complicated. There are documents to keep, budgets to adhere to and a whole new office plan to create – things are going to get a little manic! So, whether your business premises are small or large, there are going to be some important steps you will need to take in order for the moving process to run as smoothly as possible. In light of this, this month Metro Removals will provide a comprehensive commercial removal  checklist of things you need to do before, and leading up to, the big day.

Create a moving itinerary

Although it might seem a little bit strange to start off a list by suggesting a further list, creating an itinerary for your office move will prove invaluable further down the line. This list should be comprised of all the important tasks and dates pertaining to your move, such as meeting with estate agents and lawyers and also the fit out of the new property.

Create your budget

When it comes to moving commercial premises, the best thing that you can do is create a budget and stick to. With the vast number of expenses that you will naturally encounter along the way, keeping a figure in mind of how much you would like to spend will make sure you stay on track

Find your new premises

One of the most important parts of the move will be finding the new property itself, so make sure you spend ample time getting this right. This part of the process will involve receiving a long list of properties from your selected agent, inspecting those properties with said agent, and finally coming to a conclusion as to which properties you would like to shortlist.

It should be added that a property solicitor should be hired prior to making your final decision, by which time all the lease terms and documentation can be agreed by all parties.

Fit out new property

This is the more interesting part of the moving process: fitting out your new premises! In this stage, you will need to source, hire and brief architects or interior design companies. Following this, your newly appointed interior designer should accompany you on your final viewing of the new property, advising on things such as how to utilise your new space correctly and any structural issues.

Upon completion, you can then start to sign off on proposal drawings from your selected designer and commence the fit out process! It’s best to check up regularly with the designer to ensure the fit out runs smoothly and work out a move-in date.

Find the right removals company

Once the fit out is complete, it’s time to start thinking about the big move. Since you will still be juggling a million and one tasks on your itinerary, it’s much easier and more efficient to hire a removals company. However, it’s essential that you pick a reputable company with plenty of experience, ideally one who is fully insured and BAR approved. This way, you are far less likely to encounter any hiccups along the way.
